NCSTT Receives a Visit from the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek)

Bandung, (SR) - NCSTT ITB received a visit from the New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) of Japan, together with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek), on 7–8 January 2026. The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration and to review the development of innovation initiatives and research facilities within the ITB environment.

On 7 January, the visit was conducted at ITB Innovation Park Summarecon, Gedebage. During the visit, the guests received presentations on the innovation ecosystem, the development of applied research, and collaboration among universities, industry, and government initiatives developed by ITB. The delegation also visited the office of the National Center for Sustainable Transportation Technology (NCSTT), located on the 10th floor of ITB Innovation Park Summarecon. Currently, two laboratories are operating on the 10th floor, one of which has been occupied and utilized by PT Hioki Indonesia as part of an industry–academia collaboration. On this occasion, explanations were also provided regarding research activities, the utilization of laboratory facilities, as well as the potential for future development and research collaboration.

In addition, NCSTT and PT Hioki Indonesia have established a cooperation that will be implemented through the organization of four training workshops in 2026. This cooperation represents a continuation of their previous collaborations, in which NCSTT and PT Hioki Indonesia have jointly organized several workshops and training programs, including the Electric Vehicle Safety and Power Train Workshop (2021), Introduction to Electric Vehicle Technology Training (2021), Inverter and Electric Motor Workshop (2022), Workshop on EV Safety (2025), and Workshop on Battery for Electric Vehicles and Energy Storage Systems (2025).
Through these initiatives, the collaboration between NCSTT and PT Hioki Indonesia is expected to further strengthen the development of applied research, enhance human resource capacity, and foster technological innovations that are relevant to the needs of industry and society.

Following the activities at ITB Innovation Park Summarecon, the visit continued to the GEM-ITB-CSU Laboratory at the ITB Jatinangor Campus to review the facilities and research activities focused on the development of energy, materials, and sustainable technologies.

Subsequently, on 8 January, the visit proceeded to the ITB Rectorate and the Faculty of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (FTMD). During this visit, the guests toured various facilities and laboratories within the FTMD environment and received explanations regarding the academic and research activities being developed at the faculty.

Through this visit, we hope to strengthen synergy with NEDO and Kemendiktisaintek in supporting the development of technology, sustainable innovation, and the enhancement of research capacity that delivers meaningful impact for society and industry.
